The up side is this amp can keep up with any drummer and is great for gigging. The down side with this speaker is it makes the amp very heavy and at 300 watts I don't get any speaker breakup. The speaker is very efficient (and loud) at 105dB SPL and is rated at 300 watts. Note the cool green tint of the big 15 inch cone.

However, when I actually built the circuit, the output was very clean and about 21/2 watts. I'm thinking of using a Hammond 290CX which according to their sheet is 650v 180mA, so that should be a pretty direct replacement, it would just run a little cooler, right? The output transformer recommended was a 5K primary unit, a standard value. So that's 700v across, supplying up to 150mA. The Mojotone transformer has 350v x2 for the first secondary wiring, right?
